Marion Curry

A memorial celebration honoring the life of 81-year-old Marion Curry of St. James, Minnesota, will be held at Sturm Funeral Home-St. James Chapel, on Thursday, May 25, 2017, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The funeral home is located at 906 10th Avenue South.

A private family burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in rural St. James.

Marion Curry passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Prairie Senior Cottages in New Ulm, Minnesota.

Marion Ruth (Smith) Curry was born January 14, 1936, in the home of her parents, Chester and Everill (Barklow) Smith in Bingham Lake, Minnesota. Her family moved to Butterfield, Minnesota when she was four-years-old. Marion attended school in Butterfield until sixth grade. Being her folks were farmers, they did move quite a bit and they moved to the Truman/Lewisville, Minnesota area to live on a Tilney farm in 1948. She attended school in Truman from sixth grade through 10th grade. In 1952, Marion moved to her grandpa’s farm by Bingham Lake and attended Windom High School in Windom, Minnesota, graduating in 1954. She worked at First National Bank of Windom and then the Toro Company until she married and moved to St. James. She worked several different jobs in St. James.

Marion is survived by her children, Kenneth Curry of Apache Junction, Arizona, Denise (Tom) Olson of St. James, Jeff Curry of St. James, Sandra Brehmer of St. James and Susan (Tim) Paulson of Silver Bay, Minnesota; eight grandchildren, Erin (Paul) Thompson of Silver Bay, Ryan Paulson of St. James, Taylor Paulson of Silver Bay, Amy (Brandon) Viland of North Mankato, Minnesota, Adam Olson of Storm Lake, Iowa; A. J. Olson of North Mankato, Sadie (Mike) Rezac of Eagle Lake, Minnesota and Cheyanne Bowers of Seattle, Washington; six great-grandchildren, Addison Paulson, Ava Thompson, Bella Thompson, Josie Thompson, Oliver Viland and Lux Rezac.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and grandson, Jacob Lee Curry.
