MLA-C squad wins at home, 7-3
The Mountain Lake Area-Comfrey (MLA-C) Wolverine Girls Softball squad moved above .500 on the season with a 7-3 win over Section 2A foe Madelia/Truman at home today (Thursday, April 10). The Wolverines are 4-3 on the season, and 3-0 in the Red Rock Conference.
Four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning propelled MLA-C into the lead and the club went on to take the four-run win. The team scattered eight runs over the seven innings. Margo Stoesz had three of those hits, with Lexi Toll adding two.
MLA-C’s Toll and Meredith Suess each recorded two RBIs.
Winning pitcher Molly Carnell hurled a complete game, collecting three strikeouts.
The squad’s next scheduled game is a road trip to face a Red Rock opponent, Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove, at Sanborn on Tuesday, April 25. Also next week, the conference match-up continues with Edgerton/Southwest Christian visit the Wolverines’ diamond on Thursday, April 27 followed by a non-conference home contest with Springfield on Friday, April 28.
The team’s head coach is Brian Hopwood, with Shawn Naas as assistant coach.
