JON SCHWAEGERL

A new principal for Mountain Lake Public Elementary School (MLES) has been tapped following a search that began in early March following the resignation of current MLES Principal Karl Wassman.

Selected was 34-year-old Jon Schwaegerl of Mankato. Schaegerl, a native of Montevideo, will come to MLES after serving as a fifth-grade teacher for the Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial School District for the past nine years. Before that, he was a teacher for Maple River Public School for two years. Schwaegerl will begin his duties with the local public school district during June.

He earned his Bachelor Science in Elementary Education, along with a master’s degree in educational leadership and K-12 principal licensure from Minnesota State University-Mankato. Schwaegerl and his wife, Megan, are the parents of a 15-month-old daughter, Addison. Activities he enjoys are golfing, fishing and spending time with his family.
