MLA boys drop conference game at MCC

Lose tilt by 11, 62 to 51

 

IN A WEATHER-postponed Mountain Lake Area (MLA) Wolverine boys basketball Red Rock Conference game at Slayton against Murray County Central (MCC) on Tuesday, January 31, the locals fell to the Rebels by 11, 62 to 51. At the half, MLA was down eight, 28 to 21. Senior Levi Stoesz was the Wolverines’ scoring leader with 16 points, while junior Weston Osland tossed in 14 and another junior, Marcus Boyd, tallied eight. Cole Bassett scored a game-high 25 points and had seven rebounds to lead MCC. Nate Everson added 12 points and six rebounds for the Rebels. From the field, MLA hit for just 20 of 58 for 34% which included making good on only 5 of 26 three-point attempts. MCC was 23 for 48 for 47%, going 3 for 6 from three-point range for 50%. The Wolverines were 6 of 9 from the charity stripe, for 66%. The Rebels hit on 13 of 21 tries for 61%. Under the basket, the Wolverines were on the short end, 36 to 28. This Thursday, February 2, the boys are on-the-road to Hills to take on Hills/Beaver Creek.
