THE MOUNTAIN LAKE Area (MLA) Wolverine varsity girls basketball team was within reach of host Mankato Loyola at the half, but were outscored by 20 points in the second stanza to drop the non-conference tilt 62 to 33. At halftime, the Wolverines were behind by nine, 27 to 18. Liana Blomgren paced MLA with nine points, grabbing seven boards. Lindsey Theuninck had 18 points for Crusaders, and Megan Mettler scored 12. THe Wolverines, now 5-7, host Westbrook-Walnut Grove on Thursday, January 12, in a “Coaches vs. Cancer” game.
