Wolverine boys stymied by RRC ‘D’

Levi Stoesz scores career 1,000th

 

THE MOUNTAIN LAKE Area (MLA) Wolverine boys basketball squad ran up against the stifling “D” of Red Rock Central (RRC) in Lamberton on Thursday night, January 5, dropping the conference game to the Falcons by 21, 71 to 50. With the win, RRC remains undefeated on the season. MLA is now 8-3. Despite the loss, the Wolverines were the only RRC opponent to date to score 50 points in a game. The Falcons held an 11-point cushion at the half, 35 to 24, and outscored MLA in the second half 36 to 26 to chalk up the victory. Levi Stoesz tallied a total 24 points. Thirteen points in, the senior guard recorded his 1,000th career point. Stoesz also had three rebounds, two assists and a steal. Marcus Boyd scored 12, with Aaron Fast tallying seven while grabbing six boards and a pair of steals. Luke Engen scored 17 points and had six rebounds to lead RRC. Trevor Pederson had 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Brady Rasmussen had 14 points and dished out five assists. The Wolverines are at Slayton on Tuesday, January 10 to face Murray County Central.
