Arnold Coleman

Funeral services for 94-year-old Arnold Coleman of St. James, Minnesota, will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning, January 24, 2017, at the United Methodist Church in St. James, the Reverend Clinton Firstbrook III officiating. The church is located at 225 Armstrong Boulevard South.

Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in rural St. James. The cemetery is south of the city on Watonwan County Road 27.

Visitation is at Sturm Funeral Home-St. James Chapel, on Monday, January 23, 2017, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The funeral home is located at 906 10th Avenue South. A second visitation will be at the church the day of the funeral services from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Arnold Coleman passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Health System-St. James.

Arnold John Coleman was born on the family farm on January 2, 1923, the son of Daniel and Della (Larson) Coleman. He grew up and spent most of his life on the family farm. He attended country school through the eighth grade.

On September 17, 1944 Arnold was united in marriage to Elaine Engelbrecht. The couple made their home for a-year-and-a-half on a farm just east of Arnold’s family farm. They then moved back to the family farm, where they raised their family and continued to live.

Arnold loved farming and the outdoors. He drove school bus for over 53 years and also did some truck driving for the Hunstads. Arnold enjoyed woodworking, gardening, riding motorcycle, being part of the Holiday Ramblers and being a snow bird in Mesa, Arizona for many years, where they loved to visit swap meets. He also enjoyed his daily coffee group at the Hometown.

Arnold is survived by his wife, Elaine Coleman of St. James; children, Shirley (Larry) Baarson of Lisbon, North Dakota, Dennis (Sonja) Coleman of St. James, Bonita (Gary) Siem of St. James, Karen (Gregg) Reiter of Orlando, Florida and Debra (Michael) Sanchez of Brighton, Colorado; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth Coleman of Truman and Victor (Marlene) Coleman of St. James and sister-in-law, Gertrude Coleman of St. James.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Norman and Lyle and sisters Elda and Leila.
