MOUNTAIN LAKE AREA (MLA) Wolverine girls basketball squad was clipped on-the-road at Fulda in a Thursday, December 15 conference game by five points, 70 to 65. MLA held the lead over the Raiders over most of the first half, but saw that evaporate by halftime. Fulda built a double-digit margin in the second half before the Wolverines put together a late rally that fell just short. Taylor Naas led MLA in scoring, lacing 18 points. Teammate Margo Stoesz tallied 17 points, eight rebounds and five assists, and Liana Blomgren added 10 pounds and grabbed nine boards. Fulda’s Randi Tiesler hit for 14 points, including her 1,000th career point. She also had five assists. Evany Luna scored 16 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Emily Schroer had 14 points, while Courtney Zins had nine points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Raiders. On the season, MLA are 1-5. Fulda moves to 3-5 overall. The Wolverines are slated to play tonight at Southwest Christian in Edgerton in a girls/boys doubleheader.
