THE MOUNTAIN LAKE AREA (MLA) Wolverine varsity girls took off in the second half of a Thursday, December 29 game at the Wolverine Holiday Classic to claim a 27-point victory over non-conference foe Renville County West (RCW), 62 to 35. The Wolverines had an 11-point cushion at halftime, 28 to 17, and went on to pad it with second half play. Taylor Naas led MLA scorers with 15 points. She also grabbed seven rebounds. Liana Blomgren also hit double-digits with 13 points while claiming 13 boards. Jenneel Rodney had 10 rebounds and laced the nets for nine points. Aleah Zieske scored 18 for RCW. The girls’ season record after the win is 3-5. In another girls game in the tourney at Mountain Lake Public School’s gymnasium, Legacy Christian topped Westbrook/Walnut Grove (WWG), 54 to 41. All four teams return to action today (Friday, December 30). WWG and Renville County West play at 3:30 p.m., with MLA and Legacy Christian play set to tip-off at 7:15 p.m.
