SOME HOME-COOKING helped to extend the Mountain Lake Area (MLA) Wolverine boys basketball team’s season-opening winning streak to 4-0. The squad defeated Heron Lake-Okabena (HL-O) by 13, 73 to 60, in a conference contest. Senior Levi Stoesz burned the nets for 22 points, and dished out six assists while also nabbing a trio of steals. Junior Marcus Boyd also held a hot hand, tallying 20 points, combined with four assists and four boards. Another senior, Aaron Fast, scored 11. At the half, MLA held a comfortable 18-point cushion, 43 to 25. HL-O drops to 0-3 on the season. The Wolverine boys take a road trip to Westbrook on Tuesday, December 13 to face Westbrook/Walnut Grove.
