Thanks be giving

MLES Student Council donates to Loaves & Fishes Food Shelf on behalf of school

While understanding that Thanksgiving Day is a time for giving thanks, students and staff at Mountain Lake Public Elementary School (MLES) found new awareness that the holiday is also all about “just giving” as they focused efforts throughout November on raising donations for the Loaves & Fishes Food Shelf of Mountain Lake.

All told, the sixth grade members of the MLES Student Council – including Student Council President Michala Morin, along with Brooke Naas, Jaci Tollefson, Alana Morey Brody Klevin and Devyn Rempel – carried 20 boxes containing 536 food and hygiene items into the food shelf on Tuesday morning, November 22.

Accepting on behalf of Loaves & Fishes was one of the organization’s volunteers, Jerry Logue. Following the weighing of the items, Logue reported that donations totaled 421.3 pounds.

MLES Student Council Co-Advisors are Amy Hartzler and Annette Kunkel.
