ruby-stroscheinA Celebration of Life Service for 97-year-old Ruby Stroschein, of rural Ormsby, Minnesota  will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday morning, November 17, 2016, at Long Lake Lutheran Church in rural St. James, Minnesota, with Rev. Carla Reierson officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation  will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at the Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont, Minnesota, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday.

Ruby Stroschein passed away on Sunday morning,  November 13, 2016, at her son’s home in rural Ormsby.

Ruby Evelyn Kolden was born on February 11, 1919, the daughter of Severt and Anna Marie (Hagen) Kolden in the Village of Ormsby. She was baptized, confirmed and married at Long Lake Lutheran Church. Ruby attended country school in rural Ormsby until the eighth grade.

On June 24, 1950, she married Alden Henry Stroschein in the Long Lake Lutheran Church, rural St. James. After their marriage, they lived in Ormsby, where she was the Postmaster in the Ormsby Post Office for 29 years. One son was born to this union.

Ruby loved knitting slippers, covering clothes hangers and doing jigsaw puzzles, as well as crossword puzzles.

Ruby is survived by her son, Sylvan and daughter-in-law, Barb Stroschein of rural Ormsby; three granddaughters, Amy (Mark) Osborn of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Kari Weitzel and special friend, Scott Nelson of Albert Lea, Minnesota and Sara Swanson of Ormsby; five great-grandchildren, Isabella and Ellianna Osborn, Melody Weitzel and Milo and Oliver Swanson; her sister-in-law, Mary Ann Stroschein of Sturgis, South Dakota and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alden Stroschein; her mother and father-in-law, Albert and Margaret Stroschein; brother and sister-in-law, Elmo and Ardella Kolden; brother-in-law, Dale Stroschein and other relatives.

Ruby will be remembered for her amazing hugs.
