Marian Chozen

marian-chozenFuneral services were held on Saturday morning, September 24, 2016, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Jackson, Minnesota, for 97-year-old Marian Chozen of Jackson. Pastor Lance Isaacson was the officiant.

Interment was in Riverside Cemetery in Jackson immediately following the service.

Osterberg Funeral Home in Jackson handled the arrangements.

Marian Chozen passed away at the Jackson Good Samaritan Center on Monday, September 19, 2016.

Marian Christene Chozen, the daughter of Earl and Serena (Sorenson) Jackson, was born on July 25, 1919, in Wisconsin Township, Jackson County, Minnesota. As a child, Marian attended District 106 country schools, later graduating from Jackson High School in 1937. She then worked at Sward Kemp Drug Store in Jackson.

On June 71942, Marian was united in marriage to Mier H. Chozen at the Alpha Church. After marriage, the couple resided in Jackson. Marian had the privilege of being a stay-at-home mother and worked part-time at Chozen’s Department Store in Jackson.

Mier passed away on August 17, 2004. After Mier’s passing, Marian continued to live at home until she was 91 years of age. On October 14, 2010, Marian became a resident of Jackson Good Samaritan Society.

Marian was a longtime member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Jackson. She was also an active member of the Eastern Star, Job’s Daughters, American Legion Auxiliary, Jackson Hospital Auxiliary and Good Samaritan Auxiliary; and active as a active leader for both the local Girl and Boy Scout troops.

In her free time, Marian really enjoyed spending time at the family’s cottage on Spirit Lake, Iowa and spending quality time with her grandchildren. Marian also enjoyed working with her hands, especially gardening and crafts.

Marian is survived by her daughter, Rolene (Stephen) M. Brown of Lakeville Minnesota; her son, Brent C. (Terry) Chozen; five grandchildren, Blair Chozen, Shelly (Dan) Condon, Tony (Cathy) Brown, Terry (Dana) Brown and Angie (Timmy) Craven and seven great-grandchildren, Connor, Marina, Summer and Mia Brown, Cora and Hallie Condon and Kenzie Marian Craven.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, Mier and a sister, Fern A. Maitland.
