Six-person MLC Speech Team ninth at St. Peter Invite

Individual orators fine tune for Subsection 2A South contest

THE SIX MEMBERS comprising the Mountain Lake Christian (MLC) Speech Team earned a 9th-place spot, out of 24 teams competing at the St. Peter Invitational Speech Meet on Saturday, March 12. Meanwhile, individual orators fine-tuned in preparation for the Subsection 2A Speech Meet. Senior Josh Raabe of Mountain Lake was first in Varsity Humorous and senior Melissa Lohrenz, also of Mountain Lake, finished fifth in Varsity Drama. A St. James seventh-grader, Zoey Smith, placed first in Novice Great Speeches. Also competing were a trio of seventh-graders from Butterfield, Sara Quiring in Prose, Elizabeth Linscheid in Original Oratory and Jack Lepp in Humorous. This is the final regular season meet for the two seniors as they look towards the Monday, March 28 subsection contest. The Junior High Speech Team will compete tomorrow (Tuesday, March 15) at a junior high meet at Tracy. Coach is Kim Friesen, assisted by Elijah Stoesz.
