Mankato Loyola Junior High Speech Tourney venue for MLC orators

Quartet of seventh-grade students comprise school’s junior high team

THE SEVENTH-GRADE quartet that comprises the Mountain Lake Christian (MLC) Junior High Speech Team took their presentations to the Mankato Loyola Junior High Speech Tourney on Thursday, March 3. The team of four earned a 9th-place finish in competition from among the 16 competing schools. Zoey Smith of St. James received a 1st-place medal in Great Speeches. Meanwhile, a pair from Butterfield earned ribbons; Sara Quiring awarded 4th-place in Prose and Elizabeth Linscheid presented 5th-place in Original Oratory. Also competing was Jack Lepp of Butterfield in Humorous. They were accompanied to the meet by Coach Elijah Stoesz, Josh Raabe, a MLC Varsity Speech Team member who served as a judge and bus driver, Scott Smith.
