THE MOUNTAIN LAKE Area (MLA) Wolverines Varsity Girls Basketball squad, under Head Coach Wayne Klassen, held close to the Adrian in a conference contest at Adrian, but eventually the home team Dragons pulled off a nine-point win, 52-43. At the half, Adrian clung to a three-point lead, 29 to 26. Despite the loss, senior guard Signey Stoesz – who tallied 19 points on the night – notched her 1,000th point on a couple of three throws at the end of the first half. She also had 10 steals. Junior guard Brook Sunderman chipped in nine points. MLA is now 5-5 in the Red Rock Conference – 9-8 overall. Today (Friday, February 5) the girls stay on-the-road to Slayton to take on another Red Rock foe, Murray County Central. The home contest against the Fulda Raiders – originally scheduled for Monday, February 8 – has been moved to Tuesday, February 9.
