THE MOUNTAIN LAKE Area (MLA) Wolverines Varsity Girls Basketball squad, under Head Coach Wayne Klassen, traveled to Slayton on Friday, February 5, and came out of the contest against Murray County Central (MCC) with a 12-point victory, winning the conference battle, 33 to 21. The Wolverines were able to pull away from their hosts in the second half (at the half MLA was on top 13-10) to nail another notch in the Red Rock round-a-bout. Senior guard Signey Stoesz added even more points to her 1,000 career total (which came at Adrian the night before) slicing the nets for 13 points. Senior guard Chanah Brandt put up nine points and on defense, nabbed six steals. MLA is now 10-8 on the season, 6-5 in the conference. The Wolverines’ away game against the Fulda Raiders, originally scheduled for Monday, February 8 – has been moved to Tuesday, February 9. On Friday, February 12, they are on-the-road to Red Rock Central at Lamberton.
