Wolverine boys close regular season with a ‘W’; playoffs start Thursday

Use opening run to drop LCWM by 16

 

TTHE MOUNTA Mountain Lake Area (MLA) Wolverine boys basketball squads The Wolverines now stand 13-6 overall, 11-2 in the Red Rock. The club will now face Fulda on the Raiders' home court on Tuesday, February 9. Due to last week's blizzard, the already-rescheduled game due to weather with Edgerton Public will be at home on Thursday, February 11. The following day, Friday, February 12, MLA will host Murray County Central. Their regular season comes to a close against Lake Crystal/Wellcome Memorial (at Lake Crystal) on Tuesday, February 16.
THE MOUNTAIN LAKE Area (MLA) Wolverine boys basketball squad MLA, under Head Coach Shawn Naas, used an 18 to 2 opening game scoring run to dispense of their guests, Lake Crystal/Wellcome Memorial (LCWM), 60 to 34. After claiming the first half 16-point cushion, MLA did not look back – leading 37 to 12 after the first stanza – marching to the non-conference victory. Junior guard Levi Stoesz finished with 18 points and four steals for the Wolverines, while senior forward Ryan McCue had 12 points. Junior forward Aaron Fast finished with 11 points and six boards, while senior guard Slade Harder had six assists for MLA. The Wolverines finish the regular season at 17-6 overall, 15-2 in the Red Rock Conference. MLA’s first boys basketball playoff game will be tomorrow (Thursday, February 18), at Mountain Lake, with tip-off at 7 p.m. The Wolverines (16-6 – brackets were drawn before the final season game) were ranked seventh in the South Sub-Section 2A and will face the South Sub-Section 2A 10th-seed, Alden Conger(4-18).
