IT WAS A low-scoring game, but the Mountain Lake Area (MLA) Wolverines Varsity Girls Basketball squad, under Head Coach Wayne Klassen, far outdistanced their guests, Heron Lake-Okabena, by 17, 47 to 30. At the end of the first half, the Wolverines had secured a comfortable 13-point lead at 27 to 14. Senior guard Signey Stoesz scored 20 of those points. Her sophomore sister, Marta Stoesz, chipped in nine points. Senior Bailey Swanson claimed eight boards and dished out two assists, while junior Liana Blomgren muscled seven rebounds. MLA advances to 12-8 overall and 9-5 in the conference tilt. Another Red Rock foe, Westbrook/Walnut Grove, will be in town this Friday, February 19. The MLA girls close out their regular season with a non-conference game at home with Madelia on Monday, February 22.
