THE SECTION 3A sixth-seeded Windom/Mountain Lake (W/ML) Cobra Wrestlers gave it their best effort last night at Pipestone, but the third-seeded Pipestone Area won the section team meet, 49 to 24. Nice opening matches propelled W/ML to an early 24-14 lead. Zach Spinks at 126, Alex Borsgard at 132 and Evan Wiens at 138, all won by fall. After that weight, however, the Arrows came back. A McKinley Bush pin at 160, and forfeits at the next two weight classes pushed the Arrows’ lead to grow to 32-24. A couple of more pins for Pipestone Area and a technical fall gave them the meet win. The Arrows advance to the Section 3A semifinals where they will face the second-seeded Adrian at 12:30 p.m. in Redwood Falls. Adrian beat Jackson County Central on Thursday, 49 to 24. Top-seeded Minneota and the #4-seed St. James Area will wrestle in the other semifinal Saturday. The Vikings defeated Bird Island/Olivia/Lake Lillian/Danubte (BOLD) 66-9 and the Saints nipped Canby 35-34 on Thursday. The Section 3A Individual Wrestling Tourney for Cobra wrestlers will be next Friday, February 19 and Saturday, February 20, at Canby.
