Mary Lou PetersonFuneral services for 83-year-old Mary Lou Peterson of Windom, Minnesota, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning, February 2, 2016, at the First Baptist Church in Windom. The church is located at 450 3rd Avenue South.

Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Windom.

Visitation will be at LaCanne Family Funeral Home, located at 2280 6th Avenue in Windom, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, February 1, 2016. A second visitation will be held at the church the day of the funeral service from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Mary Lou Peterson passed away on Sunday morning, January 24, 2016, at the Good Samaritan Society-Sogge Memorial in Windom.

Mary Lou Margaret Peterson was born on May 25, 1932, in Jamesport, Missouri, the daughter of Forest and Florence (Todd) Peterson. She was baptized in 1970 at the First Baptist Church in Windom. She received her education from Windom Public Schools.

Mary Lou worked at the Cottonwood County Courthouse nurses’ office and was the custodian for over 47 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Windom where she was in the choir, taught Sunday School, was head of Bible School and involved with the youth groups. Mary Lou helped backstage for over 40 years for the Windom Area Chordhustlers, was a Riverfest Chairman and Parade Chair for many years, on the BARC (Building, Arts and Recreation Center) committees and a lot of other committees. She was the first DAC (Development Achievement Center) member, received the Mayor’s Medal of Honor and took care of the flower baskets around town for many years. Mary Lou lived in Windom her entire life. Mary Lou moved into the Good Samaritan Society-Sogge Memorial in Windom in 2013.

She is survived by one brother, James (Connie) Peterson of Alamo, California; close friend, Lou Zinck of Windom and other relatives. Mary Lou was an adopted aunt to all of the Zinck children, plus many more: Susie Zinck and Steve Braich, Mike and Sue Zinck, Sandy Zinck and Al Bussman, and Patti Auxter Zinck.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Laurene; aunt, Pearl Leopold and many uncles.
