MONDAY’S SNOW DELAYED the game, but when the Mountain Lake Area (MLA) Varsity Wolverine Girls Basketball squad hit their home court on Tuesday, December 29, they “snowballed” their opponents with a tough defense, paving the way to 24-point victory over the Renville County West (RCW) Jaguars in a non-conference contest, 43-27. In the victory, the Wolverines held their guests to only 11 points in the first half, while scoring 24 themselves. Senior guard Signey Stoesz sliced the basked for 21 points, with her sister, eighth-grader Margo Stoesz, pouring in six. Senior Bailey Swanson nabbed eight rebounds and sophomore Marta Stoesz snuck in for three steals. The Wayne Klassen-coached Wolverines – 5-2 overall – have break until Thursday, January 7, when they go on the road to Fulda.
