Low-scoring game turns in Falcons’ favor

MLA loses to guest RRC, 47-31

THE FIRST HALF of the Tuesday, December 22 game featuring the Mountain Lake Area (MLA) Lady Wolverines Varsity Girls Basketball squad versus the guest Red Rock Central (RRC) Falcons had both teams playing flat ball. At the half, the score was only in the teens – RRC 17 and MLA 14. The visiting Falcons spurted in the second half, moving out to a 10-point margin, eventually winning by 16, 47-31. The Lady Wolverines had opportunity to chip into thepoint  spread, but could not hit their free throws. Leading MLA scorers were the Stoesz sisters, senior Signey with 11 points and eighth-grader Margo chipping in eight. The loss gives the Wayne Klassen-coached MLA team a 4-2 record on the season as they head into Christmas break and look towards the MLA Holiday Tournament, scheduled for Monday, December 28 and Tuesday, December 29.
