MLA boys basketball drops season opener to Springfield

Wolverines’ 2015-2016 started at home on Friday

THE MOUNTAIN LAKE Area (MLA) Wolverines Boys Basketball team, under Head Coach Shawn Naas, dropped their 2015-2016 season opener at home on Friday, November 20, losing to visiting Springfield, 69 to 53. Springfield 69, The game was deadlocked 30-30 at halftime, but Springfield outscored the Wolverines 39-23 in the second half. One difference was free throws: Springfield converted 14 of 26 while MLA went to the line only eight times, making seven. Ryan McCue had 13 points, seven rebounds and three assists for the Wolverines. Chris Boyd scored nine points. Next up is a trip to St. James on Tuesday, November 24 before taking a break for Thanksgiving.
