Windom woman injured in Highway #169 accident

Katherine Blount suffers non-life-threatening injuries

A Windom woman, 52-year-old Katherine E. Blount, received non-life-threatening injuries following a two-vehicle broadside accident in Blue Earth County, on Highway #169 southbound at Milepost #52. The crash occurred at 5:31 p.m. on Friday, September 11.

A 17-year-old juvenile female from Mankato, driving a 1999 Saturn was traveling southeast, crossing the southbound lanes of Highway #169. Blount, the driver of a 1993 Oldsmobile 88 Royale, was southbound on Highway #169. The Saturn failed to yield and was struck by the Oldsmobile. Gold Cross Ambulance and South Bend Fire & Rescue responded to the scene.

Both Blount and the juvenile female were transported to Mayo Health Systems-Mankato, with non-life-threatening injuries.

No alcohol was detected in either driver.

The Oldsmobile was considered a total loss in the accident, and the Saturn had severe damage.

Also assisting the Minnesota State Highway Patrol were the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office and the Mankato Police Department.
