Dorothy Mae Feeken passed away in her home on Tuesday, September 8, 2015.

Dorothy Mae (Schmidt) Feeken was born on May 20, 1937, the daughter of Herman and Thelma (Tokheim) Schmidt in Luverne, Minnesota. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Luverne High School. She worked as a bank teller in Luverne and Hopkins, Minnesota before marrying Ron Feeken on December 12, 1964. Following their marriage, they lived on the farm near Comfrey.

Throughout her life, she took great pride as a homemaker, mother, bookkeeper and home health care provider. Over a 35-year career, she provided in-home assistance to nearly 100 elderly individuals, allowing them to remain independent in their homes by doing whatever they needed to maintain a high quality of life.

She was a 50-year member and past president of the Albin Johnson Post of the American Legion Auxiliary in Comfrey. Her service to the Salem/New Hope Lutheran Church community included teaching Sunday School to multiple generations, serving as President of the Ladies Aid, church treasurer, and member of the Ruth Circle.

Following the 1998 tornado, she worked in the Salvation Army disaster relief office.

Dorothy Mae enjoyed baking, crocheting, sewing, quilting and gardening – particularly strawberries. She was especially proud of her grandchildren and relished every moment she had with them.

She is survived by her husband, Ron of Comfrey; daughter, Alana of Clive, Iowa, Grace and Becca; son, Neal (Jennifer) of Bloomington, Minnesota, Anna, and son Daniel of Brandon, South Dakota, Sabrina, Isaiah, and Luke.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Howard Schmid; infant brother, Robert; sister-in-law Lucille (Feeken) Herrig and brothers-in-law, Roy Feeken and Orville Hanson.
