Mavis-AndersonFuneral services for 87-year-old Mavis M. Anderson of Comfrey, Minnesota, will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday morning, July 10, 2015, at New Hope Lutheran Church in Comfrey, located at 204 Court Street South.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church the day of the funeral service.

Sturm Funeral Home is handling the funeral arrangements.

Mavis M. Anderson passed away on Monday, June 29, 2015, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Mavis Madonna (Johnson) Anderson was born on March 8, 1928 in Mountain Lake, Minnesota, the daughter of Walter and Della (Stark) Johnson. She graduated from Comfrey Public High School in 1946.

On January 1, 1947, Mavis Married Eldon “Eldy” Anderson at Faith Lutheran Church in Comfrey. She and her husband lived and farmed in Bashaw Township of Brown County for most of her lives. Mavis and Elden moved into Comfrey in 1981, when they retired from farming.

Mavis was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church. She was an excellent homemaker and enjoyed gardening, decorating, reading, remodeling and baking. Mavis enjoyed playing cards, especially Bridge and 500, and being part of several card groups over the years.

Survivors include a daughter, Kristine and (Dan) Smith of Arden Hills, Minnesota and their two daughters, Nicole and Kate; daughter-in-law, Cherry Anderson of Cottage Grove, Minnesota and her four children, Jason, Jeremy, Jenny and Jim; seven great-grandchildren; brother and sisters-in-law, Roger and Vonnie Anderson and Margaret Anderson and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mavis wa preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elden (June 1997); son, Randal Anderson (2007) and brothers and sister-in-law Yvonne and Alfred Zwaschka and Vernon Anderson.
