lorraine christensenFuneral services for 90-year-old Lorraine Christensen of Comfrey, Minnesota, will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday morning, July 17, 2015, at New Hope Lutheran Church in Comfrey. The church is located at 204 Court Street South.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church the day of the funeral service.

Interment will be in Springfield City Cemetery, located on Brown County Road #24.

Lorraine Christensen passed away on Monday, July 13, 2015, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield, Minnesota.

Sturm Funeral Home-Springfield Chapel is handling the funeral arrangements.

Lorraine Ethel (Kleinow) Christensen was born on December 19, 1924, the daughter of William and Martha (Brown) Kleinow. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Comfrey. She attended Comfrey Public School and helped her parents on the farm.

Lorraine was united in marriage to Herbert Christensen on September 10, 1946. She continued to work on the farm with chores and worked at Del Monte in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota.

After the Comfrey tornado in 1998, she became a charter member of New Hope Lutheran Church.

She enjoyed baking, gardening, and crocheting. The coffee pot was always on in her home, accompanied with baked goods.

Survivors include her son, David (Markay) Christensen of Springfield; grandchildren, Ryan and Eric Christensen both of Springfield; a sister, Helen Ewert of Janesville, Minnesota; a sister-in-law, Donna Kleinow of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert in 1985; and her brothers, Charlie, Martin and Edward Kleinow.
