Olivia Hopwood to play in Minnesota Fastpitch Coaches Association all-star series

A Blizzard watch will be in effect for south-central Minnesota next Sunday, June 7.
A watch – that is – for the play of the Blizzard fastpitch team during the Minnesota Fastpitch Coaches Association all-star series. A team that includes Olivia Hopwood, recent grad of Mountain Lake Public High School and member of this spring sports season’s Mountain Lake Area (MLA) Wolverines fastpitch team.
The all-star series will be played at Caswell Park in Mankato.
Additional Blizzard players will be some of Hopwood’s former Section 2A competitors, including McKenzie Tibbetts of Lake Crystal/Wellcome Memorial, Megan Schroeder of Mankato Loyola, Anne Schwartz of New Ulm Cathedral, Laura Pelzel of Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s and Edgerton Public/Southwest Christian-Edgerton’s Savnnah Tinklenberg and Tanner Gunnink, along with Alyssa Fast of Windom Area Public High School.
Coaches for the Blizzard will be Tim Knudsen of Maple Lake and Mick Ramey of New Life Academy.
Tianna Top of Edgerton Public/Southwest Christian-Edgerton will play for the Breeze team, facing off against her former team members, along with former Red Rock Conference rivals. Moira Carlson of Jackson County Central, is on the Ice team list.
During this past season, Hopwood mostly played at second base for her coach – and dad – Brian Hopwood. She was among the team leaders in batting and runs scored.
