Acacia, Oak and Cedar classrooms hold annual Speech Meet
Mountain Lake Christian (MLC) Elementary students in the Acacia (Grades 1-2), Oak (Grades 3-4) and Cedar (Grades 5-6) held their annual Elementary Speech Meet on Friday afternoon, March 6, in their individual classrooms.
MLC High School Speech Team members served as judges for the contest. Judging in Acacia were Danica Dick and Katelyn Fast, in Oak, Caitlyn Smith and Elijah Stoesz and in Cedar, Melissa Lohrenz and Josh Raabe.
Participating students included –
* Acacia – Zach Klassen, Daniel Smith, Bailey Meyer, Isaiah Rete, Ethan Schroeder, Jacey Klassen, Grayson Schlabach, Fairlane Penner, Sam Petersen, William Berg and Lexi Nickel.
* Oak – Aiden Penner, Luke Klassen, Tiegan Meyer, Meghan Johnson, Lydia Rete, Lydia Cavanaugh, Jordan Linscheid and Tyler Dick.
* Cedar – Riley Schroeder, Ian Penner, Seth Klassen, Eli Johnson, Zoey Smith, Elizabeth Linscheid, Mark Quiring, Sara Quiring, Jack Lepp, Miriam Rete, Drayton Klassen and Kate Janzen.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN’S “The Gettysburg Address” is the text for Zoey Smith’s elementary speech meet’s choice for presentation. Zoey is in the Cedar classroom.
ELIZABETH LINSCHEID COMPARES the lives of “The Country Mouse and the City Mouse,” in her speech selection. Elizabeth is also a member of the Cedar classroom.
CEDAR’S MARK QUIRING physically and vocally becomes the “dragon” in his speech selection, “I Chased a Dragon Through the Woods.” Jack Prelutsky is the author of the poem.
