Joan Louise Eischen was born on February 9, 1957 in Comfrey to A. J. and Delores (Olson) Eischen, and attended St. Paul’s Catholic School, Comfrey Public High School and Alexandria Technical College in Alexandria, Minnesota.
Joan was proud of her Comfrey roots and loved being a part of the wonderful community. She worked at People’s State Bank, and most recently, with Lifetime Insurance, both of Comfrey.
She played piano for both St. Paul’s Choir of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Comfrey and St. Raphael’s Youth Choir of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church of Springfield. She was a loyal member of the church choir, a CCW officer and taught religious education.
Joan was a member of St. John’s Auxiliary and the Comfrey American Legion Auxiliary. She served on the Comfrey Public School Board and was an enthusiastic supporter and volunteer for “Community Days” and many other activities.
Joan will be remembered for her beautiful voice. She sang at numerous weddings, church services and special events. She loved performing in plays and talent shows. All of her nieces and nephews agree that Aunt Joan was their favorite. She was always there to support them in all of their events and activities – music, sports, plays and 4-H. Joan cherished their special days and trips, movie nights and sleepovers. She filled a large void left by the passing away of Grandpa and Grandma Eischen.
Her love and generosity overflowed for those she loved. Joan remembered birthdays and anniversaries of everyone including family, friends and recent grads going off to school. Joan was the Peacemaker. She always looked for the best in everyone. No matter what she encountered, “everyone deserved to be forgiven.”
Prayer was a daily aspect of her life. Many times you would find her absorbed in her prayer books. That was her answer for everyone in every situation – “Give it to God.”
Survivors include her siblings, Peg (Paul) Musegades of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; Kurt (JoAnn) Eischen of Comfrey; Linda (Jim) Schwab of Comfrey; Becky (Steve) Brown of Comfrey; Teresa (Kevin) Kuester of Glencoe, Minnesota; Roxane (Doug) Saholt of Mound, Minnesota and Amy (Kevin) Maudal of New Ulm, Minnesota and many nieces, nephews and grand-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Barbara.
