leonard schultzFuneral services for 87-year-old Leonard D. Schultz of Mountain Lake, Minnesota will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning, November 26, 2014, in the Cornerstone Bible Church, located at 1019 Prince Street in Mountain Lake.

Interment will be in the Cornerstone Cemetery (formerly the Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Church Cemetery), located on the west side of 570th Avenue, south of 360th Street and North of 10th St/ Cottonwood County Road #9 in rural Mountain Lake

Pastor Nathan Janzen will serve as officiant at the services.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at Sturm Funeral Home-Mountain Lake, located at 420 10th Street North, as well as at the church the day of the funeral from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Leonard D. Schultz passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake.

Leonard D. Schultz was born on April 16, 1927 in Mountain Lake, the son of David and Sarah (Flemming) Schultz. He attended country school through the eighth-grade. In his later school years, he placed his faith in Jesus Christ as his savior at summer Vacation Bible School.

Leonard worked for Wennis Franz of Mountain Lake in 1955 helping with milking, and later worked for Ed Schriock doing tiling.

Leonard went to 1 W Camp, Pennsylvania. He worked at a nursing home in Allentown, Pennsylvania as a janitor, where he met his future wife, Ruth, who was employed in the kitchen of the nursing home.

He married Ruth Ensz on April 6, 1956, and they were blessed with three children.

After 1W, he worked for Toro in Windom, Minnesota for 31 years. Later in life, Leonard worked for RSVP as a volunteer for a couple of months taking people to the clinic and hospital.

Leonard liked listening to records, especially German songs, traveling, taking summer trips to Nebraska and Kansas. One summer he spent time with Waldo Claassen in Topeka, Kansas doing tornado clean-up. He was a member of the Cornerstone Bible Church in Mountain Lake.

Survivors include his children, Joyce Schultz, Paul Schultz and Larry Schultz, all of Mountain Lake; a brother, Abe (Myrtle) Schultz of Mountain Lake and sister-in-law, Irene Schultz of Melrose, Minnesota.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Ruth and siblings, David, Peter, John, Sarah (Henry) Ratzlaff, Mary, Elizabeth (Aron) Wall and Henry (Augusta) Schultz.
