Mountain Lake man injured in Nobles County accident

Jacob Wieler was passenger in one of three vehicles that collided

Eighty-nine-year-old Jacob Wieler of Mountain Lakes received non-life-threatening injuries as a passenger in one of the vehicles involved in a three-vehicle accident in Nobles County at 11:52 a.m. on Thursday, October 16.

The Minnesota State Highway Patrol reports that a total of four occupants were in the three vehicles that collided at the intersection of Minnesota State Highway #60 with Nobles County Road #1 west of Brewster. The vehicles included a 2008 Dodge Dakota, a 2004 Honda CR-V and a 2012 Ford Focus.

The Dodge Dakota was traveling southbound on Nobles County Road #1, while the Honda CR-V and Ford Focus were both traveling westbound on Highway #60. The vehicles collided in the intersection.

Wieler was a passenger in the Ford Focus which was driven by Todd I. Dibble, 57, of Westbrook. The driver and lone occupant of the Dodge Dakota was 82-year-old Amedia E. Colan of Dundee. Gail Klassen, 65, of Windom was the driver and lone occupant of the Honda CR-V. As well as Wieler, the three others involved in the collision received non-life-threatening injuries. All were transported to Sanford Worthington Medical Center. Wieler, Dibble and Colan were hospitalized at Worthington, while Klassen was transferred and hospitalized at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The Nobles County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
