It’s borscht time again

MLC’s annual fundraiser is this Friday

borschtThe annual Mountain Lake Christian (MLC) Borscht Supper – a fundraising community event for many, many years that has cemented Mountain Lake’s recognition as the center of a new “Borscht Belt” – will be held on Friday, October 24, running from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the school. The school is located at 710 11th Street North.

The menu will feature all-you-can-eat bowls of borscht (homemade vegetable/beef soup) and slices of homemade bread, along with homemade pie and beverage. The cost for the supper is $8 for adults, $4 for students in grades kindergarten-through-12 and preschool children are free.

Borscht can also be purchased to take home and savor. The prices and sizes are $9 for a quart, $25 for a three-quart pail and $30 for a gallon pail.

The fundraising from the event is used for MLC’s annual fund and opportunities to support the school’s students on spring trips.

In addition, the sixth-grade will hold its annual Bake Sale, and the senior class will be promoting order forms for the purchase of Butterbraids. The proceeds from the Butterbraid sales will fund the annual senior trip.
