marvin wallFuneral services for 85-year-old Marvin Wall of Comfrey, Minnesota, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday morning, June 23, 2014, in New Hope Lutheran Church in Comfrey, located at 204 Court Street South. Interment will be in the church cemetery located at 29053 County Road #1 in rural Comfrey. Pastor Brian Nehring will be in the officiating clergy.

The first visitation will be Sunday, June 22, 2014, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at New Hope Lutheran Church. A second visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the Monday morning service.

Marvin Wall passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at his home in Comfrey.

Marvin Richard Wall was born on July 11, 1928 in Mountain Lake, Minnesota, the son of William and Mabel Elg Wall. He was baptized September 30, 1928 and confirmed April 18, 1943. Marvin attended Comfrey Public School. He joined the National Guard after graduation.

On October 27, 1984, Marvin married Cyrilla Stelzer at Faith Lutheran Church in Comfrey. They had four children – Shawn, Crystal, Steven and Ryan. Marvin was a Sunday School teacher and on the church board at Faith Lutheran Church. Marvin sang in a quartet with his brother, Doug; dad, William and cousin, David Quarnstrom. Marvin and his brother Doug opened a paint and body shop, owning and operating the business for 25 years. While operating the body shop, Marvin and his brother Doug farmed the land of his father’s homestead, where they raised buffalo, wild hogs and other animals. Marvin was a bus driver for many years. He also worked for Armour Eckrich for 24 years. Marvin was a member of the American Legion for 60 years and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, now New Hope Lutheran Church in Comfrey. Marvin enjoyed collecting coins, doing yard work, well-witching, and spending time with his family.

Marvin is survived by his wife Cyrilla Wall of Comfrey, children – Shawn (Karl) Winterfeldt of Comfrey, Crystal (Dustin) Moran of Blomkest, Minnesota, Steven (fiancĂ©e Melissa Buddensiek) Wall of Comfrey and Ryan Wall of Luverne; grandchildren – Hope, Grace, Jaden, Kylie, Taryn, and Kamryn; cousin Margaret Wall; brothers-in-law – Paul Warner and Jeff (Michelle) Stelzer; sisters-in-law – Pat (Mark) Winterfeldt and Vicki (Jim) Murphy and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters – Lorraine and Bea; brother Doug, brothers-in-law Alfred, Val and David; sister-in-law Darlene Nilson and nephews – Jerry Discher and Keith Wall.
