helen rempelHelen K. Rempel, age 96, of Mountain Lake, Minnesota passed away  on Friday, June 27, 2014, at The Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Lakeview Gospel Church in Mountain Lake, located at 1002 10th Street North.

Services will be held at the Lakeview Gospel Church in Mountain Lake on Tuesday, July 1, at 10:30 a.m.

The clergy will be Pastor Merwin Dick. 

Interment will be at the Mountain Lake City Cemetery, located at 10th Street North at Midway Road.

Sturm Funeral Home in Mountain Lake is handling the arrangements.

Helena “Helen” Neudorf was born February 17, 1918, the daughter of Abram and Helena (Klassen) Neudorf in Osterwick, Ukraine. She immigrated to the United States on May 7, 1949 along with her parents. Reverend and Mrs. Noah Landis of Jackson, Minnesota and the Alpha Mennonite Church in Alpha, Minnesota were her sponsors.

On April 27, 1952 Helen was married to Peter K. Rempel in Butterfield Mennonite Church in Butterfield, Minnesota. In 1953, she became an active member of the Gospel Mennonite (now Lakeview Gospel) Church to which she contributed much. Helen worked for many years at Butterfield Produce. On February 10, 1966 she began working at Hiebert Greenhouses in Mountain Lake. Following her retirement nearly 30 years later, she continued her love of gardening, needlework, and baking for others.

Helen is survived by a niece, Helena Neudorf and family of Germany, and cousins in Canada. She will be mourned by special friends Marjorie Christianson, Paul Christianson, and Karen and Paul Leverson and family.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996, parents, and brothers Abram and Peter during World War II.

Memorials may be made to MCC (Mennonite Central Committee) or American Bible Society.
