Noritta ‘Rita’ Gisch

noritta gischFuneral mass for 77-year-old Noritta “Rita” Gisch of Mountain Lake, Minnesota, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday morning, June 2, 2014, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Comfrey, Minnesota. The clergy will be Father Andy Michals.

Interment will be in the St. Paul Catholic Cemetery in Comfrey.

Visitation will be on Sunday, June 1, 2014 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home in Comfrey and will continue on Monday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the funeral home. A Parish Prayer Service will be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Rita died on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at The Good Samaritan Lodge in Mountain Lake.

Noritta Rose was born on March 4, 1937, the daughter of Harvey and Rose (Pommier) Gregoire in Currie, Minnesota. During her school years, they moved to Tracy, Minnesota, where she went through the 12th grade. She then married Leo Burkhamer and they were blessed with two daughters.  They later divorced. On May 5, 1962 Noritta was wed to Richard Joseph Gisch at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy.  They were blessed with a son.

In 2005, Rita and her husband moved off their Delton Township farm in Cottonwood County and went to live in Mountain Lake.  Rita belonged to St. Paul’s Catholic Church and was a member of the choir and Christian Mother’s Association.  She was also a member, and past president, of the Comfrey Quilt Guild and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and embroidery.

She is survived by her children, Venus (Gerald) King, Browerville, Minnesotea; Dawn (Ray) Jelinek, Ramsey, Minnesota and Richard (Dawn) Gisch, Mountain Lake; a brother, Elrick “Butch” (Ginger Johnson) Gregoire, Burnsville, Minnesota; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren: Jonathan and Gloria King, Bradley (Kelli) Jelinek with Kevin and Kristina, Douglas (Ashley) Jelinek with Arianna, Rachael and Kiera, Steven (Amanda) Jelinek, Matthew (Vanessa Reed) Jelinek, Nathan Gisch and Christopher Gisch and many nieces and nephews.

Noritta was preceded in death by her husband, Richard in 2010; and infant sister, Arebella; a pre-teen sister, Violet; a brother Meddie Barrie; brothers, Oliver, Albert, Ronald, Walt and Emery Gregoire, and sisters, Amelia Sheets and Vivian Breczinski.
