Loren W. Bright

loren brightFuneral services for 80-year-old Loren W. Bright of rural Ormsby, Minnesota will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at First Lutheran Church in St. James, Minnesota with Pastor K. Christian Johnson officiating.

Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in rural Odin, Minnesota with full military honors by the St. James Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at the Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont and one hour prior to the services at the church the day of the funeral.

Loren W. Bright passed away on Saturday morning, May 17, 2014 in rural Waseca, Minnesota.

Loren Willes Bright was born to Marvin Mork Sr. and Lena (Stam) in Watonwan County, rural St. James, Minnesota. At a young age he was adopted by Roy and Hilda (Hammer) Bright. Loren received his education from Butterfield Public School. He enlisted in the United States Army on July 8, 1953, serving until his honorable discharge on June 20, 1955.

On December 8, 1961, Loren was united in marriage to Jerilyn “Jeri” Janssen at the First Lutheran Church in Ewington Township, rural Worthington, Minnesota. After their marriage they lived in Ormsby, where Loren was employed as a salesman for the Ormsby Elevator and then for Darfur Implement of Darfur, Minnesota and later Malmgren Implement of St. James, Minnesota. He also was employed as a cook at the Ormsby Townhouse and helped Alan Flohrs farm in rural Ormsby.

Loren was a member of First Lutheran Church in St. James and the St. James American Legion and V.F.W. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially camping at Kiesler’s in rural Waseca.

Survivors include his wife, Jeri Bright of Ormsby; two daughters, Val (Tim) Flaata and Tami Bright both of St. James; grandchildren, Stacie Flaata and special friend, Brennen Toquam, Brittany Flaata, Caleb (Rachel) Sperl, Danielle Sperl, Abby Bright; great-granddaughter, Alieah Sperl; brother, DeWayne (Goodrun) Kjelshus of Hanska, Minnesota; sister, Lenore (Jack) Carter of St. James; sister-in-law, Jeanette (Richard) Jones of Dallas, Texas; nieces and nephews and other relatives and camping friends.

Loren was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Dawn Bright; brother, Marvin Mork Jr. and other relatives.
