irene sandbergA Celebration of Life services for Irene A. Sandberg, 74 of St. James, Minnesota, formerly of rural Butterfield, Minnesota will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2014 at Augustana Lutheran Church in St. James, with Pastor Kathleen Ulland-Klinkner officiating. Interment will be in Kansas Lake Lutheran Cemetery in rural Butterfield.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday.

Irene Sandberg passed away on Tuesday morning, March 11, 2014 at Trimont Health Care Center in Trimont, Minnesota.

Irene Adele Sandberg was born December 1, 1939 the daughter of Arthur and Mabel (Ellanson) Sandberg on a farm in Watonwan County, Minnesota and was baptized and later confirmed at Kansas Lake Lutheran Church in rural Butterfield. Irene attended country school in District #50 until the eighth grade. She then attended school at Butterfield until the tenth grade. She made her home with her parents on their farm in rural Butterfield, Minnesota. After the death of her mother, she moved into St. James with her father.

On July 3, 2007 she became a resident of the Trimont Health Care Center in Trimont. Irene enjoyed watching television, reading – especially her Bible, doing embroidery work and always had the job of stirring rice for the Christmas dinner.

She is survived by her brother, Lloyd and his wife, Andrea Sandberg of St. James and their family, Mike Sandmeyer, Bryan and Robyn Sandmeyer, Dennis Sandmeyer, Alan Sandmeyer, Laura Sandmeyer, Jen and Dean Juliar, Marsha Hughes; her sister, Marion Anderson’s family, son Dean Anderson and daughter, Lori Ebargary; aunts and uncle, Lorraine Ellanson and Linnea and Art Ellanson; cousins, nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Marion Anderson and other relatives.
