RogerPetersonFuneral services for Roger Filbert Peterson, 75, of Comfrey, Minnesota will be held Friday morning, February 28, 2014, at 10:30 a.m., at New Hope Lutheran Church in Comfrey. Pastor Brian Nehring will officiate at the services. The church is located at 204 Court Street South.

Interment will be in Mountain Lake City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 27, 2014, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., in the Comfrey Chapel of Sturm Funeral Home, located at 101 North Field, as well as from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church the day of the funeral.

Roger Peterson died Sunday, February 23, 2014, in Comfrey.

Roger Filbert Peterson was born August 25, 1938 at the home farmplace near Comfrey, the son of Filbert and Minnie (Brand) Peterson. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Comfrey and graduated from Comfrey Public High School in 1956. Roger served with the Minnesota National Guard for three years and worked as a machinist for several companies for over 40 years. He married Nellie Lyons-Stark on August 25, 1974 in Comfrey. Roger was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church in Comfrey and enjoyed fishing, watching baseball and softball, the Minnesota Vikings and especially spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his stepchildren, Dale and Brenda Henze of Backus, Minneseota, Delbert and Linda Henze of Mapleton, Minnesota Jean and Gary Rathman of Comfrey and Joanne Howk and Lenny Hauser of New Ulm, Minnesota; 10 step-grandchildren; 8 step-great-grandchildren; one brother and his wife, LeRoy Peterson and Marilyn “Marty” Feil of Comfrey; one step-sister, Margie Francis; one step-sister-in-law, Louise Peterson and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Nellie, on March 30, 2013; parents; step-grandson, Craig Henze; sister, Marcella Peterson; half-sister, Doreen Peterson; step-mothers, Hilma Sandberg Peterson and Dorothy Wing Peterson; step-brother and step-brother and his wife, Clifford Peterson and Charles and Shirley Peterson and step-brother-in-law, A.W. Francis.
