MLC Speech Team at Worthington Trojan Invitational Meet

Four orators earn awards in their categories

The Mountain Lake Christian  (MLC) Speech Team competed at the 16-team Worthington Trojan Invitational Speech Meet on Saturday, February 1. This was a three-round competition, with no final round. Five students competed, with a pair double-entered, for a total of seven entries.  Of those participating students, four earned awards in their categories.

Two sophomores had bronze finishes, Melissa Lohrenz in Poetry and Josh Raabe in Humorous Interpretation. Junior Caitlyn Smith was fifth in Great Speeches and eighth in Prose (a category in which she had just received her script the previous day), while James Hamm, a sophomore, was sixth in Humorous, and also participated in Creative Expression. Freshman Katelyn Fast competed in Prose at her first meet. Elijah Stoesz and Danica Dick were not able to participate. Kim Friesen is the team’s coach, assisted by Candy Zook.
