Accident at Highway 30, Cottonwood County Road 4

Two-vehicle crash occurred Monday afternoon

A two-vehicle accident occurred in northwestern Cottonwood County this afternoon (Monday, July 11), at 2:07 p.m., sending one of the drivers to Westbrook Hospital in Westbrook with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol’s media website, a 2008 Ford pick-up, driven by 37-year-old Darren A. Peters, was traveling eastbound on Minnesota Highway 30, and a 1999 Mercury Marquis, driven by Whitney M. Lensing, age 23, of Windom, was heading westbound on Highway 30. The Ford crossed the center line as it was beginning to turn left onto Cottonwood County Road 4, and collided with the Mercury.

Lensing was taken to Westbrook Hospital by the Westbrook Ambulance, with non-life-threatening injuries. Peters had no apparent injuries.

The Mercury passenger car received minor damage, and the Ford pick-up had no reported damage.

Also assisting the Minnesota State Patrol were the Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office and the Jeffers Fire Department.
