Margaret Kispert’s football shot for ‘The Daily Iowan’ recognized
Several students at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa, who work for The Daily Iowan, were recognized by the Iowa Newspaper Foundation’s “Better Newspaper Contest” last weekend (February 5, 6 and 7) during the group’s annual convention in Des Moines, Iowa. The contest had the collegians competing against professional newspapers and journalists from around the state.
The winners were chosen this year by the New York Press Association.
Among those receiving honors was 20-year-old Margaret Kispert, a 2013 graduate Mountain Lake Public High School and the daughter of Mark and Mary Kispert of Mountain Lake.
She received second-place in the category of Best Sports Photo. Among the judge’s comments on her photo – “How did you manage to get this shot?”
Kispert is a double-major at the University of Iowa in communications and sports medicine, with plans to attend medical school, specializing in surgery. She is also a photographer for The Daily Iowan.
The Daily Iowan is a multi-faceted news media organization, which provides fair and accurate coverage of events and issues pertaining to the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Johnson County and the state of Iowa.
