Rehnelt Excavating of Kasota has been busy of late making changes at the southeast corner of 10th Street and 4th Avenue.
The gutting and demolition of a trio of downtown buildings along 10th Street has been center stage for the company as they prepare the lots for a new Mountain Lake Economic Development Authority-backed downtown development.
HERE ARE THE trio of buildings as they earlier stood. From left, the former Ross Cleaners, former Joy Shoppe and former private residence.
AFTER EARLIER TAKING down a garage and trees, and gutting the three buildings on Friday, December 4, Rehnelt Excavating of Kasota returned on Tuesday, December 8 to begin the demolition. Down comes the former Ross Cleaners under the power of “the claw.”
A LOOK AT the demolished rear of the former Ross Cleaners building displays its two floor levels. The bricks from the building were saved by volunteers and will be brought to Heritage Village for use.
NEXT BUILDING LOOKED at for demolition late in the day on Tuesday, December 8, was the former Joy Shoppe.
