MLPS School Board approves extra-curricular assignments

Set Board Canvass meeting date, time

The Mountain Lake Public School (MLPS) School Board approved a list of extra-curricular assignments at the group’s Monday, October 19 meeting.

+ Shawn Naas – Varsity Head Boys’ Basketball Coach, $4,350.

+ Nate Brinkman – B-Squad Boys’ Basketball Coach, $3,300.

+ Paul Metcalf – Volunteer Boys’ Basketball Coach, No salary.

+ Steve Thiessen – C-Squad Volunteer Boys’ Basketball Coach, No salary.

+ Tim Snyder – 8th-Grade Boys’ Basketball Coach, $2,450.

+ Justin Thompson – 7th-Grade Boys’ Basketball Coach, $2,450.

+ Wayne Klassen – Varsity Head Girls’ Basketball Coach, $4,350.

+ Amber Hughes – Volunteer Girls’ Basketball Coach, No salary.

+ Ryan Jans – B-Squad Girls’ Basketball Coach, $3,300.

+ To Be Determined – 8th-Grade Girls’ Basketball Coach, $2,450.

+ To Be Determined – 7th-Grade Girls’ Basketball Coach, $2,450.

+ Julie Brugman – One-Act Director, $2,025.

+ To Be Determined – Speech Coach, $2,500.

Board Canvass meeting will be November 9

Board members also set the date and time for the Board Canvass meeting. It will be held on Monday, November 9, at 7:30 a.m.

In other business

+ Board Chair Doug Standerwick appointed Board Member Pam Hoek to serve on the Community services Advisory Committee.

+ Approved the resignation of Alisa Nickel as Head Speech Coach.

+ Approved hiring Alyssa Nesmoe as a Part-Time Custodian at a rate of $10 per hour.

+ Approved the posting for both an 8th-Grade and 7th-Grade Girls’ Basketball Coach and Head Speech Coach.

+ Approved the termination of Rachel Stevens as a Daycare Aide at Town and Country Daycare.

+ Learned that Eide Bailly, a certified public accountant (CPA) and business advisory firm, will be presenting in the December/January meeting, rather than the October/November meeting due to the implementation of GASB  (Governmental Accounting Standards Board) 68, a statement that has the objective to improve accounting and financial reporting by state and local governments for pensions. as well as improve information provided by state and local governmental employers about financial support for pensions that is provided by other entities.
