Host Madelia tops MLA 34-16 to advance in Section 3 9-Man
The football season came to an end at Madelia for the Mountain Lake Area (MLA) Wolverines; the Section 3 9-Man #2-seeded Blackhawks stopping the #3-seed Wolverines, 34-16. In the team’s earlier match-up in the third game of the season, Madelia topped MLA, 46-34 in play at Madelia.
The loss closes the book on the season for Head Coach Tim Kirk’s squad, sporting a 7-3 record.
In other Section 3 9-Man semi-final play, #4 Edgerton/Ellsworth (E/E) upended the #1-seed, Hills-Beaver Creek, 14-12. In the opening game of the season, E/E defeated Madelia, 26-20 on their home field.
The Section 3 9-Man finals between Edgerton/Ellsworth and Madelia will be played at 12 p.m. on Friday, October 23, at Southwest Minnesota State University-Marshall.
