MLA Varsity Football wins 32-12 over host Heron Lake-Okabena

Head Coach Tim Kirk’s Mountain Lake Area (MLA) Wolverines Varsity 9-Man Football team traveled to Heron Lake to take on Heron Lake-Okabena in their final regular season game on Friday, October 9, and dropped their hosts, 32-12.

The win gives the squad a 6-2 count on the season.

Playoff match-ups will be determined tomorrow morning (Saturday,  October 10).

Here’s the rundown on the game’s scoring:

+ MLA goes up 6-0 on an eight-yard touchdown run by senior running back/wide receiver Chris Boyd. (Two-point conversion fails.)

+ Wolverines extend lead to 14-0 with a 35-yard touchdown pass from Boyd to junior fullback Jacob Suess. (Two-point conversion successful.)

+ Boyd runs it in from five yards out to spark MLA to a 20-0 cushion. (Two-point conversion fails.)

+ It’s Boyd again, running it in from 47 yards out. MLA leads 26-0. (Two-point conversion fails.)

+ Eight-yard run by Boyd and it is MLA 32-0 over the Wildcats. (Two-point conversion fails.)

+ HL-O scores on a 59-yard run by senior running back Brady Haberman; Wolverines ahead of Wildcats, 32-6.

+ Haberman runs it in from the one for the Wildcats; score is 32-12.

Boyd runs for more than 300 yards in the win and scores four touchdowns.
