Mountain Lake’s city-wide clean-up is Saturday

The City of Mountain Lake’s city-wide clean-up day  is this Saturday, May 2. Items for pickup should be placed curbside no earlier than Thursday, April 30. On pickup day, items should be at the curb by 6 a.m. This clean-up is available only to residents of the City of Mountain Lake.

Items not picked up:

* Mattresses and box springs (see below for special info on those items).

* Florescent light bulbs.

* Appliances.

* Televisions, computers and other electronic devices.

* Tires.

* Household hazardous waste – including cleaners, paint, fertilizer, pesticides, car batteries, etc.

* Large amounts of construction debris.

* Yard waste.

* Recycling.

Items that remain at the curb after clean-up must be removed. Administrative citations will be issued to violators of the city’s Nuisance Ordinance.

* On clean-up day, Cottonwood County will have a trailer available at Mountain Lake City Hall from 8 a.m. to 12 noon for mattress pick up. A Cottonwood County Solid Waste Mattress Collection will provide an employee to collect the fee – and determine if each mattress is dry or wet. The cost to recycle a mattress is $11; the box spring is an additional $11. However, a double or split box spring for a larger bed will be considered as one, not two. (Mattresses and box springs can be recycled any time at the Cottonwood County Landfill, located at 43973 Cottonwood County Road #22.

* Yard waste may be disposed of at the city’s burn site north of Mountain Lake. April, May and June hours are Wednesday, 4-7 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m.-12 noon and 1 p.m.-4 p.m.

* Large amounts of construction debris should be taken to the demolition site at the Cottonwood County Landfill,. Disposal fees do apply.

* Items that can recycled at the Cottonwood County landfill include florescent bulbs, appliances, televisions, computers and other electronic devices, tires and household hazardous waste including cleaners, paint, pesticides, fertilizers, car batteries, etc.

May be brought to the Mountain Lake City Street Shop on “Mountain Lake Recycling Day,” Thursday, June 11, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

In either case, disposal fees apply.
