Community Survey to be conducted concerning MLPS building projects

School Board approves move at special meeting

At a special Mountain Lake Public School (MLPS) School Board meeting on Monday, November 6, members met to discuss and approve the hiring of School Perceptions LLC to construct and conduct a community survey for the district’s building projects.

The survey will focus on two items:

  • Priority of projects.
  • Tax tolerance.

Members of the MLPS Building Committee were also in attendance.

School Perceptions LLC of Slinger, Wisconsin, is an independent educational research firm that works with school districts, regional service agencies and state and national organizations. Their mission statement centers on helping educational leaders gather, organize and use data to make strategic decisions.

Project management and survey development is led by Bill Foster, the President, owner and Founder of School Perceptions. Sue Peterson provides strategic communications and additional project support management. Chelsea Davis is the firm’s Data Analyst. Providing software and technical support is Dr. Tim Mikula, Vice President of Technology.

The firm’s work will focus on four phases –

+ Phase 1: Strategy Development:

  • Assist in developing overall project strategy and timeline.
  • Cost is $1,400.

+ Phase 2: Survey Design:

  • Assist in developing pre-survey community communications.
  • Assumes custom survey design for staff, parent and community members. This includes respondent information, prioritization of options and funding support.
  • Engage key internal stakeholders in the planning process.
  • Secure mailing list and printer.
  • Cost is $2,400.

+ Phase 3: Survey Administration:

  • Coordinate production, promotion and distribution of each survey instrument to the target group using the most cost-effective means while ensuring adequate and valid responses are obtained.
  • Program customized content utilizing the School Perceptions priority software system for all community members, parents and staff.
  • Generate unique survey access codes or kiosk codes for each group.
  • Email launch staff survey.
  • Email launch to parents.
  • Generate an electronic printable version of the survey.
  • Help coordinate printing and mailing logistics.
  • Perform daily date back-up and software maintenance.
  • Cost is $2,600 (excluding printing and postage).

+ Phase 4: Online Results Access/Written Report/Plan of Action:

  • Provide full access to all data line (password protected).
  • Provide full/reverse segmentation capabilities.
  • Provide a written report within two weeks after all paper surveys have been received. The report will cover the process overview, demographics, comment theme development and analysis and summary of all data, disaggregated by key subgroups.
  • Work with the school district to establish a realistic data-driven plan of action.
  • Cost is $2,300.
