Wolverine cross country runs at St. James Invite

Varsity boys 3rd-place team, girls are 9th; Junior High boys, girls champs again

Cross country runners at yesterday’s (Tuesday, September 26) St. James Invitational Meet competed against each other – as well as a stiff northwest wind and cooler weather (in other words, a day comfortable for running).

The Wolverine Varsity boys finished as the third-place team, led by Nathan Runck’s second-place finish in the 5000-meter contest.

The Varsity girls finished as the ninth-place team, Mercedes Saengosoth the first into the chute in 14th place.

And for the second time in as many meets, both the Junior High boys and girls teams were meet champs.

The coach looked ahead to the conference and section meets, strategizing that, “We still need to tighten up our pack if we want to compete hard at those meets.”
